Our Story
Once upon a time there was a studio called Impressions Games, creators of perennial and beloved city-building classics such as Caesar 3, Pharaoh and Zeus. After the success of Pharaoh and Zeus, the leads from those teams, including Studio Head and lead designer of both titles, Chris Beatrice, struck out to found their own studio: Tilted Mill Entertainment. Tilted Mill continued the Impressions tradition of focusing on historical city-building games, while expanding to include RPG and contemporary city-builders as well.

Tilted Mill’s proud legacy spans more than 30 years in the video game industry.

Tilted Mill’s debut title: Children of the Nile was a breakthrough in historical city-building gaming. The first true 3d historical city-building game, it offers lush visuals, while introducing to the genre a sim-like population of real people, each with individual wants and needs, going about their lives in ancient Egypt, trying to feed their families, hold down a job, improve their homes and their general quality of life.
Building on the success of this game, the team went on to develop another historical city-building title: Caesar IV, continuing the Impressions tradition for a new generation of gamers. Later they created the next title in the SimCity franchise, SimCity: Societies. This was followed by Hinterland, a hybrid town building game and part-based fantasy rpg.
