Jim appears to claim that #1 will have the best prestige. I believe 2 will be higher.

With low prestige (<200), Pharaoh Death is no big deal. Besides, Pharaoh Death decays rapidly. In Diospolis, one of the requirements is to beat Pharaoh death & this is why a prestige surge is required. However, Diospolis is a gameplay outlier in the grand scheme of things.
.
Well, I have no opinion which way you'll have a better prestige, but I know one thing: if in Diospolis a Pharaoh dies late (meaning you're almost getting your win screen), you are going to scream. That's what I did: my prestige went down by 380 something (if I recall it right).

My 700 prestige statue surge in Diospolis happened in minutes. 75 Carvers. On Hard!

And you think a Pharaoh cannot die in minutes? It can happen in seconds if the time happens to be right.

I just loaded my Diospolis Win save. It loads in 1119 BC with a prestige of 1002 that is still going waaay up, cuz of all the Carving still in progress.

Pharaoh VI died in 1120 BC at age of 30. Pharaoh VII was 5. I have two Death Hits under Events totalling -76 (both buried in Lg Mastabas cuz I hate pyramids).

(Don't hate me! )

Why would I hate you? Your Pharaoh dies first and then your carvers start their task. Is this what happened?

It wasn't too bad for me either, once I stopped screaming. Used an auto save, let my Pharaoh die again and then started the carving business. No harm practically done, although I must admit it still remember with horror that moment I saw the announcement of Pharaoh Kiya VIII's death.

edit/ Had a look at the messages of my save after victory. It seems there was a Pharaoh death in 1120 BC in my Diospolis too, Kiya VII's. Then Kiya VIII died quite too early at the age of 32, but Kiya IX was only 5 years when she came to the throne. And it was under her rule that Diospolis was 'won'.
No reason for 'hating', things happen you know.

Besides I never yell at my people, only occasionally scream at myself. LOL

It was awhile ago & my memory is a bit foggy. I might have waited for a Pharaoh Death to release the hounds, but he was only 30.

The "Hate" part was about the new one at age five. Proper bonding with the game before installing & never yelling at my people.

That was me to after my OB's I fell a little short, I was terrified my Pharaoh would die...

If he had, I couldn't have finished, to much computer power needed

That is what I was saying. Never built: value constant. Build one: the first-built rule reduces the values of the others.

No decay during these years. I built none, just let them pile up.

I then built the best Stele for Manghiha - Independent Egyptian City that the Build Menu said was worth 18. When complete it posted at 9.

Immediately, the Build Menu decayed for ALL the other propaganda.
That matches what I was saying. Build the first one, the values for the remaining decrease. I think its only for classes of propaganda though. Like all stele or all obelisks. I'm not sure building a stele for instance lessens the obelisk values.

Now you're misunderstanding me, putting words in my mouth. I didn't say it was the best for prestige or the best for building. Its just the way I build. I posted it because most of my info on prestige comes from following the values of pyramids.

I first started doing it, right or wrong, because I wanted to build the first obelisk, stele for the highest value site possible, so I would get full value for the first one. Such as a site for 40 points instead of a 10 point one. (There are also a limited number of them available, so I wanted to get the most out of them.)

So I'd wait, building tombs for prestige because you get the most points from them in the long run of the options left (at least the pyramids; you even get more points if they're occupied by royal family members. ). I'd fill in with some statues here and there if needed. So, I ended up getting prestige from tombs, exploits, etc., not always needing the propaganda ones as much. Most of the time I would have 35 elites before even building my first propoganda.

Not better or best, just different.
