Is that the exact wording of the error message?

Is this happening during the install process? At what step of the install are you seeing the error message?

You may have a Windows registry file problem.

Exact wording is

Could not write license data!
Please contact Customer Support for further instructions.

It happens when I click the icon to load the .exe

Post a copy of your dxdiag.txt file so we can see if your system meets the requirements.

Use the manage attachments button on the reply screen below the text area to attach files.

Did you install Netframework and the DirectX 9.0c from the demo install?

I don't see anything outstanding in the dxdiag.txt that would cause the problem.

Did you try running the RegisterDLL.bat file in the the game's install folder?

Yeah was one of the first things I did, even defragged my HD. :(

And you have NETFramework 2.0 and the DX9 version from the demo installed?

I tried to find any sort of other reference on Microsoft and on Google and only came up with one other instance of a gamer with the same problem in some other game. He did not get any helpful replies. He tried to fix his regsitry with Registry Mechanic and had no luck.

I even checked Sierra's technical support.

Have you tried to reinstall the demo?

Dang this sucks, yeah .net and directx are up to date.

Thanks for your help man.

The bad news is that if its not the demo it could mean that you might have to reinstall Windows.

There just doesn't seem to be much info on your particular problem that I can find.

I just noticed Im in the COTN forum instead of CeasarIV. Either way Im guessing it would have the same solution. Hopefully reinstall isnt needed.
