Things to try if you are having problems with your mouse's peformance in the demo. I won't guaranty that these will fix your problem.
General
Updated mouse drivers are always preferred, if they are available.
Slow or sluggish mouse performance
Try a lower screen resolution, if you can.
If your video card supports "full screen anti-aliasing" you may want to try disabling that feature. In some cases this may help some that have reported that the mouse cursor in the game is not moving even though they can click on buttons with an "invisible" cursor while playing the demo.
You may also want to disable any anti-aliasing settings in the demo by setting it to NONE.
Mouse cursor is high or low from hot spot:
If the mouse cursor is at a point on the screen lower or higher than the spot you need to click on try checking the Vertical Sync option in the game settings menu.
A lower screen resolution may also help.

It has also been suggested that checking the Vertical Sync option could also cure a slow or sluggish mouse response.

For those of you having a problem with invisible mouse pointers or the cursor not moving in the game, try the following:
Open your display properties, settings tab, click the advanced button, chose the troubleshooting tab, and moved the hardware acceleration slider down from the highest notch to one below the highest.
Try the demo. You may still need to use one or more the in-game settings mentioned above.
If the mouse still won't move, lower it another notch, then try the demo. Keep trying lower settings until you either get it to work or you hit the lowest settings without any change.
You have to quit the demo each time before you make the next change to the slider.

We'll this may not be good Spanish, but it's the best online translators could do:

The slider should have helped with that.
Here is my first post translated with other things to try:
General

Well, I'm having this mouse thing, too. I have read these posts and followed the reccomendations to no avail, so I am appealing to see if there is any further hope, oh great forum guys.
I get a flickering frozen hand/mouse animation in the middle of the screen, but there is an invisible mouse that I can move around and click on stuff in order to change the settings, etc.
I have updated my drivers.
I have reduced the hardware acceleration by steps until the game no longer would load.
So, I am attaching here, my DXDIAG so that we can see that I do have the minimum requirements, but maybe some requirements are more minimum than others, in the sense that some pigs are more equal than others.
If you can help, I would appreciate it.

The SiS M760GX (http://www.sis.com/products/sism760gx_benefits.htm) is a chipset that is DX8.1 hardware compliant and only DX9 software compliant. It probably won't be able to run the game, because the game requires DX9 hardware compliance.
SiS Mirage™ Graphic Engine
Powered by SiS Mirage™ 2 Graphic Engine. Microsoft DirectX 8.1 H/W and Microsoft DirectX 9.0 S/W compliant.

Thanks for the replies, you're all worth your salt.
I tried Manni's fix with Tweaking the hover sensitivity, but that didn't do it. Thanks anyway.
Phil's suggestion to push some of the tremendous crap on my harddrive over to my external drive is a good one. I will clear some space. I do have Caesar installed on the D: drive with more space, but I will slash and burn on C:.
WIll let you know how it turns out.
OK, these galley slaves aren't going to whip themselves, gotta get back to itl.

mojotexas, Is your mouse hooked up through a usb port or through the traditional ps2 port?

mouse is touchpad, thoough I do have a USB mouse as well, if I need it.
His Dxdiag is what actually prompted my question. It also lists a usb mouse device and I just wanted to clarify how his mouse was physically connected.
Thanks mojotexas for explaining for dummies like me:)
