I was wondering, if anybody got this demo working with a card who supported only up to shader 1.1 or 1.3? Like the geforce 4200 ti for example? Does anyone know?

Hmm, and yet, Springer seemed to be able to run it with his 4200ti. Maybe the mobo is too old. :o But thanks for the reply, Phil.

Hi, i saw you were referring to my post about getting C4 to run on the Ti4200

My Mobo is really old, its an Abit BX6 Motherboard (first version, so at least 6 years old, but 1 off the best P3 mobo's ever built)
The Ti4200 i am using is a Medion Ti4200 128mb that came with the ALDI pc my dad bought a while back (I blew up my own ASUS ti4200 when i was trying to fasten it while the PC what on, stupid me).

My CPU is a Celeron/P3 950 MHz
What did the trick on my old but very good running computer is most likely my 896 MB RAM
I Defragged my drives several times so that the level off file and drive fragmentation was 0% before i installed the game.
Another thing on my PC is that i am running Norton Internet Security + Antivirus AND i'm running XP PRO with SP1 installed.
In my experience SP2 only makes the computer less stable and requires even more resources.
I also run Deamon Tools and about 4 Virtual CD-rom drives on my system.

So despite everyting that has been said about requirements to play the demo (my system does not even meet the minimum req.) my System is able to play this demo on an acceptable detail level and speed. (keep in mind almost all my hardware is pretty old and could be referred to as antique ;) )

BTW, i upgraded my wifes FX5200 to an FX 6200 256mb AGP and now the games runs very good on high details but without shadows. Eventhough this card has shader engine 3.0 the game becomes very laggy again when i enable the shadows.

That's amazing Springer. :) I've got a Ti4200 in my old PC, too, but I can't get the game running. I always get an error message. I've got to admit 'though, that I haven't tried hard to make it run, since I've got a better pc now. But maybe, should I be bored one day, I might give it a shot just for the fun of it. :D

Shadows always suck a lot of power. I think a lot of games suffer from that.

My wifes PC has the latest nvidia drivers installed and shadows do work but i would have needed to drop to lower detail levels to get it to run smoothly, so i have chosen to keep the shadows disabled. The FX 6200 256 mb AGP card is a nice and cheap gfx card (50 euro) but it is still a low end card and probably not able to cope with all gfx the game has to offer. You would probably need a 7000 series nvidia card for that.

As for my antique system, i'm hoping to upgrade soon (pentium 4 D 805 2.66 Ghz able to be overclocked to 4 Ghz, cheap and even more powerfull than the top processors when overclocked correctly, its a dual core processor. Read about this processor here ===> http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/05/10/dual_41_ghz_cores/ )

I will be trying though to get the full game running on my current system. I will report back here when i get it to run without SP2 and with my Ti4200 card.
