View Full Version : Four very important questions

I would be very grateful if someone could give me a definite answer to the following questions.
1. Will there be a sandbox mode?
2. Will there be families?
3. Will civilians have the ability to atack each other? Like murder?
4. Will there be a way to punish civilians? Like jail or execution?
I can't give you a definite answer to any since I'm not one of the developers, but:
1. There is a strong possibility that a sandbox mode will be implemented.
2. There are families as gathered from screenshot examination.
3. Unknown.
4. Presumably there will be law forces to control the people.

Thanks Eddie, although, I would still like a better answer for questions 3 and 4. Will Civilians be able to attack each other? Like, maybe a family feud between two families or something? That would be absolutely incredible. Like Romeo and Juliet or something. Also, can you execute or imprison people?

One of the screenshots and caption below it shows a "police" patrol, of sorts so there will be some sort of law enforcement. The caption implies that his patrolling makes it safe for the nubian trader passing by, so I'm guessing that there will be at least theft and mugging. I'm not so sure that the developers want to get into "murder" though.

Gee - that would be a whole different game - Murder Mysteries on The Nile! ;)
Personally I would prefer Crime to be kept to the generic ones of hunting down tomb robbers, and maybe embezzlement of palace, temple, and public funds as anything else gets way too complicated and off the whole point of the game. That's just my humble opinion, of course. ;)

Corruption should definitely be a factor. ;)

I don't think you'll have to solve all crimes yourself. I'm pretty sure the police and courts can handle theft without the interference of the Pharaoh.
It's kinda strange.. but I somehow wouldn't like to have murder in the game  I mean we've had warfare, gladiator revolts, monsters and a lot more, but somehow general murder doesn't seem to fit a CB game. (I guess I'll just have to get used to it when it actually will be in the game)
No one as yet has said murder would be in the game, as far as I know. There were palace revolts - one of the Ramesses had a harem revolt he survived after all, but apart from that, I really would prefer not to have murders in the game.
Games are supposed to take us away from reality after all.

Like I said before, I agree with you Miut. But it isn't it strange that we wish to have it not while we have warfare and such? Ah well.. :)

Good old Ramesses III. :)
Ah, but warfare.. the smell of the leather and oils for it, steel and whetstone - OK, bronze and whetstone! - the rattle of spears, clatter of swords on sheilds - and the hot sun.. ;) And it isn't murder if they are trying to kill you first, y'know.. Still, let's keep war in fantasy realms, please!

1. no comment
2. yes
3. yes
4. yes
I'm very disturbed by the no comment!

I wouldn't be. ;)
Put it this way: they did say they don't want to be talking about design decisions in detail, right? Well, the sandbox mode might not be exactly as one would expect judging by the previous games. Then they'd have to explain: it's sorta like sandbox, except such and such. So, "no comment" doesn't mean "no" necessarily, I think.
Besides, see in the other thread, Chris mentioned a certain way the cities tie in with each other. Maybe "sandbox mode" is related somehow to this new way cities interact, which they didn't want to release many details about yet. :)
PS: Yay for 2000. :)
But what if it means that you will play it in a certain order that only they dictate? What if it means no customizing the game? What if it means, no dancing monkeys!

Don't be worried Eddy! I agree with vovan, most likely, the sandbox mode will be quite open (with very little preset stuff) but just diffirent from previous CB games but they are not sure on the details yet.
And BTW, look at the bright side of it. No comment is always better than a plain "No". Besided, he said "Yes" 3 times as well! Thanks a lot, Chris!

No comment's definitely different from no.
For all we know it could mean they are still pondering whether to include one after all our begging for it ;)

Indeed. http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
Hey, maybe we should ask more yes/no question. :) I mean, since they have already indicated a reluctance to elaborate, these seem to extract more information after all. Besides, it's fun to see people freaking out like Eddy.
Hehe, jk. ;)
Eddy runs around his Egyptian themed home screaming "NO SANDBOX! NO SANDBOX!"
In his wild rantings, several decorative statues of Bastet get knocked over, as well as a ceremonial Osirus incense burner.

[QUOTE=SlayerOfDukes4. Will there be a way to punish civilians? Like jail or execution?[/QUOTE]
In Egypt, Pharaoh reserved the sole power to sentence criminals to death. One of the more famous events such as this was the "Harem Conspiracy" during the reign of Ramses III (someone already mentioned this above). His son, also named Ramses, presided over the panel of judges that gave the order to execute those responsible, over thirty-some people died, and I think some of them were forced to commit suicide. Included in the conspiracy were the nobles and various concubines. It would be cool of cotn could somehow implement these major events into the game.
