Frightfully sorry if this has been posted, but I have this problem that after 2 long hours of wait 'til the demo was downloaded and then installed, whenever I try to play it tells me it had a Runtime error and couldn't start correctly (0xc0000135), someone could shed me a light on what that means, please?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you don't have NETFramework 2.0 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/) installed. (Required)

thanks for the link, but it didn't work. :(
Edit: Didn't see your post Keith. I'll see if it changes anything.

To install Net framework I need Microsoft Windows Installer 3.0.
to install Microsoft Installer I need to download a Genuine check key.
I download the key from the same site, and it isn't genuine. How is that even possible?
Got any clue, please?

You may have to face it and reinstall Windows and all the updates, then NETFramework. If their site is not recognizing your Windows install as "genuine" and it is, then you probably have corrupted windows credentials or licensing information on your system. Mine got corrupted after brief power outage in June and I had to wipe the drive and start from scratch.

Okay, I'll give up then. Tomorrow I'll be trying the demo on my newest and nearly empty computer. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem with Windows XP Home Edition that came with my Dell computer. Does anyone know if the real game is also going to require Net Framework 2.0? (not sure why it's required for the demo.... afaik, .net framework says it's for web browsers/ASP functionality).
I'd hate to have to try a complete hard drive wipe and reinstall everything on my computer just in hope that I can get .net framework 2.0 to install properly so I can play this game...
I've played tons of games, and don't recall any ever using the .net framework for anything. Would it say on the retail box if it's a requirement, you think?

I believe that .NETFramework 2.0 is going to be required by the full game too. It's probably required for the online functions of the game among other things.

It's unfortunate for many gamers as well as for Tilted Mill/Sierra/Vivendi Universal that they decided to go with using .net framework 2.0. I suspect this is going to result in less sales than they might have expected, as well as many thousands of frustrated gamers and phone calls, and people trying to return opened packages (which stores normally won't take, due to the possibility of game copying).
I'm still trying to track down my problem, which I think has something to do with the fact that I used a program called "XP Lite", which removes alot of Windows files. I followed some on-line steps to re-activate/re-validate my copy of Windows XP, and the screen that normally comes up on install that says something like "activate on-line, activate over the telephone, or remind me later" was completely blank, which leads me to believe that some files are missing.
The reason I make the comments I do in the first paragraph is that during my search for a solution, I found a note on Microsoft's website that says that 1 out of every 5 validation attempts fails. Which translates into 20% of the people who buy this game won't be able to install .net framework 2.0. That's alot of potential customers being angry, upset, or what-have-you.
I'm reluctant to do it, because Microsoft warns that some settings and/or files may be lost, but I think I'm going to end up trying a "repair installation" of XP. For those of you who are having similar problems due to corrupt data or some other cause, simply insert the Windows XP CD and select Install XP, then on the next window select "Upgrade (recommended)" from the drop-down box. This will cause XP to re-install on top of itself. IMO, an easier solution (or attempt at one) than formatting the hard drive and doing a clean install, because you're not losing everything on C drive.
On the other hand, I'm glad I tried to play the demo and found out about this early, and hope I can have it resolved before the game is available in the stores. I'd hate to be one of those excited gamers who runs home to install and play the game, only to find out that they now face hours or days of trying to get Microsoft's validation thing to work.
And on a final note, I was reading some comments regarding the demo, and one in particular that stated that the interface took up 75% of the screen, severely limiting your view of the map. Yet the screenshots that I've seen showed an interface very similar to C3's (with the control panel on the right-hand side). Any comments on this discrepancy? Can I expect a C3-like interface, as seen in the screenies?

Update:
I successfully fixed my problem without either a re-installation or a repair installation of Windows XP. If I can read my scribbled notes correctly, I'll post it here for anyone else who may have corrupted or other problems with validating their CD key:
Go to Windows Update, install any ActiveX controls it asks you to.
This will take you to the Genuine Windows Validation page. Click the button.
You'll get the message "This copy is not genuine" with a link below that says "Buy now". Below that is a section titled "Customer Support". Under there you'll see something like "Troubleshooting - find out if you can update your product key."
Click that link.
Click yes to install Genuine Advantage.
At the bottom of the next page you'll see: No, the key does not match - take me to Windows Product Key Update Tool instructions.
Click that link.
Check off the "I agree" box and click Download, then Start when the box pops up for "KeyUpdateTool.exe".
The program will run and then allow you to re-enter your CD key. You'll be asked to restart the computer, after which it will pop up again and say that it's all done.
Warning before doing this!
If, when you start your computer it goes to the login screen (where you click your username, Admin, Guest, etc...), you may run into the problem of the original box popping up that says "This copy of Windows must be activated before you can use it" when you attempt to login under one of the usernames (because this program runs before you get to your desktop, where KeyUpdateTool is set to finish). In order to prevent this, you need to set Windows to auto-logon before doing this update. This can be done easily with Microsoft's TweakUI program. Or you can Google "windows xp auto logon" for another way to do it. Good luck!
Edit: As always, to prevent major headaches, first create a System Restore point. If for some reason you can't get back to your desktop, press F8 as soon as Windows starts loading and select Safe Mode, then use System Restore to go back to your old setup.

Installing .Net is not so complicated.
Just do a google search for "Dotnetfx.exe" (this is the installation file)
The second result (tabbed in from the first) will take you to microsoft's download section.
Your looking for the .Net 2.0 x86 (or 64 if you have XP64) Redistributable Package. Click download. Its about 22.4 megs.
Download and run.
Cheers.

Right now I noticed that after two months I haven't downloaded the demo again. Also this forum has changed unbeknownst to me. And the game was launched while I wasn't even aware.
