If you have Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 and are getting kernel32.dll error messages it may be necessary to uninstall (not just disable) the Kapersky AV suite.

It was reported to me by someone else on the Sierra boards that someone mentioned it to him and he tried it too. He uninstalled his Kaspersky AV 6.0 and the problem disappeared.

And YES, you need to UN-install it completely...

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION on unhandled exception error message in kernel32.dll

The problem with the Kaspersky 6.0 AV may be also due to a recent Microsoft update as of 08/09/2006. KB917422 (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-051.mspx) fixes a problem with User Profile Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability. This update has been causing issues with other software.

Uninstalling Kaspersky AV 6.0 is one way around it.

Uninstalling KB917422 and not running Kaspersky AV 6.0 in resident mode will also get around it. Uninstalling the update will leave your system vulnerable to possible exploitation, so use with care.

Additional information:

One person has reported that he got fixed his problem by removing the KB917422 Windows update. (Use with caution, this removes a vulnerability fix.)

He could keep his Kaspersky 6.0 AV running, but he had to add Caesar IV demo to the exclusion list when the warning pops up. KAV seems to want to detect something in the demo code as suspicious.
