You can disable the automatic restart on blue screen by doing the following:

Click Start > Control Panel (category view mode) > Performance and Maintenance > System > Advance tab > Settings button in Startup and Recovery section. Uncheck the box next to Automatically restart in the System Failure section. Click ok.

You may have to reboot to make the change take effect. The next blue screen should stay on the screen and you can jot down the information before manually shuttingdown and restarting your system.

You may get a warning message that your system is recovering from a fatal error and it may offer you a chance to go to the safe mode or the normal startup. You can pick normal startup, unless you know what you want to change, if anything, then do that from the safe mode.

The name of the registry cleaner I used was RegSeeker. Free handy registry cleaner program (http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8078)

I am having the same problem on both my laptop & my desktop when I try to run Caesar IV. I took a pic of the screen of my laptop the other day (after doing exactly what Keith just said) which I am attaching. I have no idea what it means (my computer engineering son is away so I haven't done anything with it) but maybe it will help someone here.

Looks like you may be having memory problems the 0xc0000005 code indicates that. The thread on the Dell Support board mentions the memory in relation go the 0x0000008E stop code.

You can test your memory here:

http://www.mersenne.org/ or http://www.memtest.org/

or you can use the memory testing utilities on the Dell Resource CD that they talk about and you should have in the thread.

Like I said, the error message seems to indicate a memory handling problem on your system. Did you test each of the memory strips one by one or did you just pull out the rest and test it one time with just one randomly selected strip?

The test programs I mention above will test your memory strips while in the system. The fault just appears when the winntdrv.sys file is being accessed. There may be nothing wrong with that file at all.

I searched for windrvnt.sys its not there in service pack folder it is only on the system 32 folder. can u post the file so that i replace and try once again.

i dont think there will be a ram problem becasue all applications and games works without any problem. i tried my friends harddisk, demo is working fine so it would be some other problem ....

No, downloading it again isn't going to fix a problem that is on your system itself.

Check out this thread on Gamespot I found:

I finally got a hold of my son for 10 minutes and he found what was causing the problem on both of my computers. It took him all of 5 minutes & I've been sitting here waiting to play this demo since the day it was released (shows how high Mom is on his priority list ).

It was a file-security program I had installed called "Folder Lock" causing the problem. He uninstalled it, rebooted & voila...the demo works perfectly. I just thought I should post this in case it helps someone else...try looking for software incompatibility/conflicts if you don't think it doesn't appear to be a hardware issue.

Thanks for all the effort in trying to help me resolve this issue. Off I go to play the demo now...finally!!!!

Posting this in two threads...this one & the "If you have problems with the demo (readme)" one.

Glad to hear it. We would have never guessed that you had such a utility. Thanks for the update.

Astonishing! A third party tool interferes!
I have a prog called UNLOCKER installed.
Demo runs fine in it`s neighbourhood. :)
