View Full Version : Strobing trees and bushes

I haven't seen this mentioned before, sorry in advance if I missed it.
I have an ATI Radeon 9250 graphics card with the latest (for my card) Catalyst Drivers v6.5. I know it isn't the version 6.7 supported by the game, but everything is running pretty well except for some of the trees and bushes strobe (blink in and out of sight).
I'm wondering if someone can point me in the direction of which one of the many graphic options I could change to try to stop this. I unlocked the camera and if I move way far out it seems to stop it. Any clue what needs to be adjusted?
Fortunately, I'm not prone to seizures. At least not yet! :D

Can't help you with the exact settings Jimaaten. I would just try with minimum settings on everything and keep increasing the settings between each test until you hit your problem. Newer drivers might help too. I'm running 6.6 drivers myself on 9800 Pro and all is well here.

I think the 9250 is a DirectX 8.1 card, where as this demo requires DX9.0c. Thats most likely your problem.

I think the 9250 is a DirectX 8.1 card, where as this demo requires DX9.0c. Thats most likely your problem. It says on the box that it works with DirectX 9.0 games. One of the reasons I chose that one. If it doesn't, I should start a class action suit for false advertising. ;) (I bought it to run CotN, which I've had no problem with. Probably neither here nor there.)
Newer drivers might help too. I'm running 6.6 drivers myself on 9800 Pro and all is well here.Unfortunately, these are the latest drivers that will work with my card. Downloaded and installed Wednesday from ATI.
Oh, well. It's not a game breaker for me.

The card is DX 9 compatible but doesn't support all functions of DX 9.

It is a DX 8.1 card. And like Mouse said being compatable doesn't always mean "compliant" or "capable".
Also the version of DX9 out now that the demo using is several versions newer than the one that CotN required and that may also have something to do with it as well.

I just bought the bloody thing; can't afford another right now. They told me it was one of the latest.
I messed with the settings on my desktop and in the demo about one million times:cool: but have learned to live with it.

Thanks Cat; I wondered if it were just me. We're in the same boat with not affording a new card! I've learned to live with it too. Although, if I stare at it too long I start to get a little sick to my stomach. The solution, don't stare too long at it. :o :D
