Same problem as many other people on here really, I just bought the game and it installs fine. I can play tutorials but as soon as i start a new campaign I get that microsoft error message "COTN.EXE".

I've added my DXDIAG file so you can check what the problem could be, thx.

Welcome to our family, Kal3l! :)

One of our Tech Experts will be along shortly. Please see this thread while you are waiting --> S3 Graphics Card... Major problem!! (http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5390)

You have a S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR card & many cards will only play the COTN Tutorials & not the Campaign Scenarios. I was the same way, but with a different card.

I've just been checking out new graphics cards, tbh i'm not very technical at all when it comes to these things.
On the site I'm going to buy my card from, I clicked Nvidia and it's asking me to choose either PCI & PCI Express or AGP, I'm not quite sure which one I need.
I was thinking about the XFX Geforce FX 5200 256MB DDR (AGP)
I only play a few games series, like pharaoh/COTN and also Mir3 & FM2006, so tbh I dont really want to spend more than say £40-50 on a new card yet.

Your motherboard is probably equipped with a standard PCI slot (PCI Express is relatively new) and you may have a AGP slot.

I checked with HP and couldn't find a listing of a Pavillion 06, but using your model number of DF130A-ABU a110 I found the following info on the HP site for a HP Pavilion a110.uk Desktop PC (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&x=5&dlc=en&product=316781&lang=en&y=8&docname=bph07941), which has a 4x AGP graphics card slot.

An FX 5200 is obsolete. You should be looking at something like a FX 6600 minimum. Otherwise you'll be back in this same position next year.

You have to ask yourself "what good is it to to have the money to buy a game if your system can't run it?"
