unable to install patch 2.1

I downloaded the patch - but am I unble to install it. I keep getting amessage saying:

Unable to install update becuase CotN.exe unknow version

what am I doing wrong?

Make sure you have the patch for your vesion of the game. The U.S. version is very large. The european version is much smaller.

If you have a U.S. version of the game the path to install the patch into should be C:\Program Files\Tilted Mill\Children of the Nile, that is the default path.

If you have the european version of the game the path is C:\Program Files\Sega\Immortal City by default.

If you chose a different path and folder for your game when you installed it you will need to use that for the patch install. There should be a point in the install patch where you can BROWSE for the the game path, use it to find the folder where the game is installed and select it then run and complete the patch install.

I can't install this patch either and I've got both directories to choose from. The 'Sega' directory says it can't install patch while the 'Tilted Mill' directory says that there aren't any files in directory to update!!!

I bloody well give up!

How can I install a patch that simply refuses to install?

I downloaded the US version patch because that seems the most logical thing to do... I'm in Australia? :: shrugs :: I don't know which version my game actually is... how do I find out which patch I should have downloaded?

Any help would be appreciated. :mad:

You may not need the patch. Depending on when you bought your game it may already be version 1.2.

Sega handled the distribution of the game outside the US and they changed the install path of the game.

The U.S. version installs in the Program Files\Tilted Mill path.

Sounds like you have the version from Sega and that you may have the the most up to date version already. You can't use the U.S. patch on Sega versions.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to tell which version number you have because the patch file doesn't update the game version number afterwards, something they forgot to do.

To see if you have 1.2 already, try this:

Version 1.0 and 1.1 have a problem in the second tutorial mission, whereby, if the palace is deleted it is not rebuit. 1.2 fixes that problem.

Play the tutorial missions and when you get to the second mission delete the palace. If it gets rebuilt you have version 1.2. Make sure you have the bricks available to rebuild the palace though.

Hey Phil,

I've got the legit copy... the eye of Horus is on the front cover... got it at Harvey Norman store in Fountain Gate about 9 months ago now.

I think everyone is right in saying I don't need a patch... since I got it fairly recently, it more than likely already has the patch on it. Just wish the damn downloader had been able to 'see' that before I had downloaded the huge file...
