You do have a M:\ drive. It's probably a partition on your USB drive or a virtual cache being used by that drive. See the info in this blog (http://blogs.geekdojo.net/andy/archive/2004/01/19/665.aspx).
Question: At the very beginning of the install, I get the following error:
Error: 1327.Invalid Drive: z:\
the install will not continue.
where "z" is some drive letter.
Solution: The problem may occur if your personal folder is set to the drive in question. Try installing after logging on to the computer with a local "machine" account as opposed to a domain administrator account. If that does not help, try mapping the drive in question. Note that you may need access privileges to that drive to do so. Contact your network admin if necessary. If mapping the drive does not help, you will need to edit your Windows registry. Please note that making mistakes when editing the registry can cause serious problems. Edit the registry at your own risk. You will need to edit the path to the personal folder on your system. For example, on Windows 2000, you would edit the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Explo rer\Shell Folders\Personal key to point to something other than drive Z that exists. Also check the same location for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

Sorry for correcting you Phil...........
this is a MEDION-PC that Anderson has.
For drivers of all sorts he will have to go to http://www.medion.co.uk ( if it is a British subject) and ONLY get drivers from there.
MEDION sells destop-pc`s/notebooks with "special" hardware inside, no regular stuff and can only be updated via their page.
Anderson must look at the back of the pc-body to find a certain number which is to be filled in on the above page. There is a read-me what to do.
In Germany you can buy medion-pc`s at the grocers when you go and get cucumber or sausage.

Digitally signed drivers being best if possible of course.
Very true!

Digitially signed just means that Microsoft tested them and they certify that they work with your version of Windows. As long as you get drivers from the hardware manufacturer you'll be reasonably safe even if they aren't certified by Microsoft. At some point, if you have an old computer and hardware running an older version of Windows you'll have to rely on unsigned drivers for updates, if anyone still is writing new drivers for the hardware at that time.

Right. Digitally signed drivers are preferred, but not necessary.
It turns out a the 1327 error is a common problem with installations of a wide range of software. I did a search and came up with that quote on what to do and the blog that essentially recommends the same thing.
At some point he's put some new device on his system that has reordered the drive letter assignments in the registry file.

A: the video drivers aren't that old for CotN (remember it was tested with August 2004 drivers).
b: instead of letting CotN try a default install tell it where you want it to install. Usuaully programs/games come up with a default install location and a browse button. Use the browse button to select the drive to install the program/game.

Yep, 64-bit mode is a problem for a lot of older software.
