Conflict with anti-virus software

Love the graphics in the game! Have Earthlink Protection; when running a scan to check for adware, etc., computer freezes at CON\statusbar_left.tga

When I say freezes - everything locks down...have to turn off the electricity to reboot the computer. Needless to say Windows XP Pro doesn't react well. Please give any insights you may have. By the way, I have downloaded the patch 1.2 patch.

It seems that it sucks your cpu dead, so just let it check for virus on a SINGLE partition at a time!
Don`t let Earth search for virus AND spyware in one go, do it one by one.
Don`t run Earthlink AND CotN at the same time!

Apart from winXP pro.........what other is there? Can you show up your dxdiag-file?

Disabling the program, if possible is always and option.

I run XP Pro here too, and use the online versions of McAfee firewall and viruscan programs (registered) for real-time protection, as well as the Microsoft Anti-Spyware and Ad-Aware. No problems here with any of them. I even have the AOL spyware viruscan program that popsup when I run the AOL program here and that doesn't have a problem with it either.

So there are other options for protection out there.

I have Earthlink with XP pro. I have to turn off the Protector Shield to play CotN or I have trouble although not as bad as texasmine. If I forget to turn off the Shield I keep getting kicked out of the game. I simply turn off the Shield when I play.
