Recently I bought a copy of Children of the Nile from Direct2Drive for $19.99 US. It has all the issues that were apparently fixed in the v1.1 retail patch. There is no patch for the digital copy. As the creators of Children of the Nile, I thought you should know. I have written several emails to D2D and all come with unhelpful response.
Anyone else have this happen?

It's been mentioned before. Although I thought that they usually offered the latest version for download, which would require no patches.

Well I read the patch fixes, and all of the problems I'm having are there.
I was also wondering if there was some way to slow down unit walking speed without slowing the entire game down? I've tried the text files but nothing there seems to work.

None that I'm aware of.

Welcome to our family, Momento_morii! (AND TENOX!) :)
So sorry to hear about your problems.
Personally, I want the disk in my paws.
Good luck to you! :)

Yeah, that's what I thought would happen. They only sell, they don't support.
It is hard to imagine that they would sell you a copy that can't be updated. Normally, when a patch cannot be applied it might be due to the fact that it is not required, that the version is the current version. The only way to tell is by the version number in the game. CotN has the unusual problem with the version number, since the version number doesn't update with the install of the patch so it makes telling whether or not you really need the patch or not difficult.
One thing you can try to see if you have a 1.0 or 1.1/1.2 version is to play th tutorial and in the second tutorial mission destroy the palace. If you cannot rebuild it you have version 1.0. If you can rebuild the palace you either have version 1.1 (patch fixed this bug) or version 1.2.

I don't know where you live but you can probably get a copy of CotN off of Amazon.com. You have to be real careful on eBay, because there is a chance of getting a illegal copy which won't accept the update patch either.

MM,
I got my copy of COTN recently in Currys for £9-99 off a spinner stand. Price in "Game" I think was twice that.
(Assuming that's Bristol, England)

at last they aretaking me seriously :) they sent this to me
"We are working with the game developers on getting a patch for the game if there is a new one available. Unfortunately we don’t know when that will be so we can only ask that you be patient until we have the patch. We’ll add it to the patches section for download ASAP!

If you used a credit card to purchase the game file a dispute with your credit card company. That way you can get your money back. Since they are lying about working with the developers because there are patches available just not for the digital game. Doubt TM is working with them on a patch for an almost 2 year old game.
