Hi,
Have bought game and installed it ok but it won't start - I just get a message saying that errors were detected and it had to be shut down. I attach the dxdiag file - can anyone help?

Sorry to say but your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements to run the game. You have on board video. Your processor is only 600mhz.
Minimum requirements right off the box
P3 or Athlon 800mhz or higher
DX 9b compatible video card 32mb (must support T&L)
Recommened 2ghz processor
512mbs of ram
64mb video card with full DX 9 support

Well I suspect it might well be the spec too. I just have one query - I have other games which state an 800 MHz processor is min requirement and they do work (perfectly in fact). Also when I tried to install DirectX 9.0 it did so fine and stated that my computer supported it. I'm not trying to quibble but I'd like to be 100% sure that it's the spec causing the problem before I spend a lot upgrading the processor, video card etc - any recommendations?
By the way the strategy guide and the movie attached to it work ok but I can't even get the play menu to come up - as soon as I try to start the game I just get the error message.
Thanks for your help

CotN is very processor and video intensive so I'm sure that your system is out of spec by a huge amount. As to DX 9 it will install on almost any system but if you try to run the DX 9 video test I don't believe it will run but will rather tell you that your video doesn't support it.
CotN will run under a minimum requirement system but without all the features and smoothness of a recommended requirement system.
Personally I took part in the beta testing and we saw what/how well CotN ran on different systems.

Hello snoozysue,
mouse is dead right.
Your processor could just about handle the game but not your graphics.
It`s not a card you`ve got but only a graphic-chip Intel(R) 82810 Graphics Controller stuck on motherboard with a display memory of 32.0 MB
--------------------
If I had your technique I`d try and do this: (without guarantee for success!!)
......setting the Current Mode of 1024 x 768 (24 bit) (75Hz) down to 16 bit and 60Hz
.....looking for a newer graphic-chip-driver (yours is over a year old)
.....looking for a newer sounddriver for sound-chip (yours is from 2001)
----------------
Other than that, when above is done, before starting the game: stop you virus-guard and firewall in systray.

Do the onboard video chips support T&L....I don't remember...Your best bet is to do as manni has suggested to try to give your system that little extra budge towards compliance.....if it still doesn't work then it's most likely that the specs are *just* enough out of date to cause you problems. Kudos for getting other stuff to run on a bewlow spec computer though! :D :p

Intel chipsets do not support T&L. In most games, transform and lighting calculations can be performed on the processor with acceptable performance. A small number of games that specifically check for hardware T&L support may fail to run. -source INTEL

I wouldn`t harm snoozysue`s PC at all to give it a driver-update in all.
I DID mention "without guarantee for success!"

Thanks for all the help!!!!:)
The computer is driving me crazy at the minute - by running games it really shouldn't support and crashing on ones that are way below the spec.
What sort of video and sound cards would you peeps recommend in order to be able to run current and future games? I may have to get a new PC as all the upgrades may add up to more than a new one!
