Please post your DxDiag File as an attachment with your next post.

Go to Start -> Run type dxdiag and then press Enter. Save the file.

Edit: You were faster. :) Thanks.

As I see, you have a N'vidia based graphic card. There are some problems with the last drivers of these cards. I cannot say if those you use are the last since I am using an ATI based card (and have no prob gniark gniark!!! ;-) ) but there is an almost recent post where you could find what drivers are the best to play NotC... It can help....

I think it is probably the issue, since your machine is not a bad one....

Yeah, yeah, now you laugh.... :D ;)

But back to topic. I see you use the latest NVidia drivers. Have you tried using the 61.77 version?
And your sound drivers could use some upgrading if there's a newer version around.
But I'd suggest downgrading your graphics driver first. Make sure you've removed the current driver before you install the older version.

Furthermore you have very little Ram. Only 256 MB. That's the minimum you need to run Windows XP properly. For playing games I'd recommend you to upgrade to at least 512 MB.

Usually from the Control Panel -> Software.

To make sure that all the files are removed, I'd suggest you download Driver Cleaner (it has a nice Readme File which guides you step by step through the process). You can get it here: Driver Cleaner (http://www.drivercleaner.net/)

Check the Nvidia webpages for any driver uninstaller/cleaner program. I would suggest that first rather than a 3rd party cleaner.

You can also remove the driver itself from the Device Manager menu. Right click on MY COMPUTER. Select PROPERTIES. Then click on Hardware and the Device Manger button. Open the DISPLAY ADAPTER option. Select PROPERTIES. Clck on the Driver tab. There is a UNINSTALL button there.

Use the Control Panel ADD/REMOVE software utility to remove any contol center/panel software your current driver may have.

Then install your new driver and any control center/panel software it comes with. Reboot.

There are no uninstallers/cleaners from nVidia itself.

~ First, download the new driver package. DO NOT RUN INSTALL

~ Second, run your add/remove programs to uninstall your current video drivers.

~ Reboot your computer, and run the install program for the new drivers.

~ Done :D
