Purchased this game yesterday and have experienced problems with my previously very stable PC since.

Some of these problems have been resolved by referring to other threads on this forum. The PC itself now appears to be stable but still having problems with CoN.

Although the game loads properly and allows game-play, at some point during play one of three things happens:

1) Blue screens (but too quick to get message) and automatically restarts PC
2) Crashes to Desktop and generates a Windows error report
3) Game appears to minimize, leaving CoN icon in desktop tray. Clicking the icon resumes the game.

Can usually get between 5 and 10 mins game-play before any of these problems occur but can not yet detect a pattern which causes them. On other odd occasions have managed 30 mins game-play before failure.

Please note that patch has been installed & the CoN executable is shown as version 1.1.6.119.

Drivers for my NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU card are version 6.14.0010.6177.

DxDiag attached.

Thanks in advance for your attention.

AMRAThe first thing I noticed is the odd amount of RAM your system seems to have "896MB". I don't think I've seen one listed with that amount before and wonder if that might be part of a problem you may have.

The next, is that you seem to have a built-in graphics system rather than a seperate card. That may be part of your problem as well. It may not be as capable as a Geforce MX 440 card or other Nvidia cards.

Your audio drivers are dated 2003, and probably need updating.

As you play the game files and saves get larger and your computer is placed under more computing stress and your current video and audio setup may not be able to handle it all. You may need to upgrad to a seperate video card and disable the internal graphics system.

Is this a laptop computer?

Thanks

This is a PC, not a laptop.

Memory of 896Mb equates to 1Gb less shared video RAM of 128Mb.

Although integrated graphics card it is 8x AGP.

Amra,

if possible, I would suggest you buy a 'real' graphics card, because integrated ones tend to cause problems with games.

Seem to have resolved the problems as follows. Hope not speaking too soon!

1) Uninstalled CoN
2) Alter BIOS settings to switch off integrated graphics (this released 128Mb of RAM back to system - RAM now equals 1Gb)
3) Alter BIOS AGP aperture to 256Mb
3) Installed NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 OC 256Mb AGP 8x graphics card
4) Installed drivers that came with graphics card
5) Downgraded drivers by over-installing with version 6177 (hmmm....)
6) Installed CoN
7) Apply CoN patch

Game played well for extended period of time but then mouse cursor froze & game stopped responding. Rebooted machine, started CoN & altered game video settings to:

Water detail = Medium
Effect detail = High
Shadows = None
Sky detail = Low

Have now had extended period without any problems. Fingers crossed!
