I just bought COTN last week because I really like Pharoh. I installed the game on my computer and everything went smooth with that but when I tried to start the game the CD will spin and the first screen where it gives choices to play or uninstall ect. pops up. When I click on play I get this message...

Children of the Nile has encountetred a problem and needs to close. We are sorrry for the incovenience.
In the report the computer wants to send to Microsoft it includes this file:
C:\DOCUME~1\MEGANH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1D.tmp.dir00 \appcompat.txt

I have done a virus scan, defrag, and reinstalled the game several times. Nothing works. My problem with computer games most of the time is the lack of a significant video card since mine is part of my computer located in the motherboard. But with SIMS2 which I had bought and haven't played the computer actually told me the problem was lack of video card it didn't give me a error report. (Sims2 is the only game I have that I can't play. I am able to play all the other sims games, plus some random games I own like Pharoh.)

What I want to know is, why am i getting this message? What does it mean? And what can I do now (besides buying a video card) to fix the problem?

I attached my hardware file, but please don't laugh because even though I am not computer smart I understand my hardware sucks butt.
Thanks Megan

The problem is you have no video driver installed on your system. What's being used is the standard VGA driver that is the default installed by windows. You will need to install the motherboard drivers to get the correct video driver. Short of that you will need to identify your motherboard so that you can get the correct video driver. What I would suggest is that you download and install a free program called Everest Home that will identify your motherboard so that you can get a video driver. Who knows with a real video driver you might even be able to play Sims 2.

I'm guessing that most of the other games you play are alot less graphics intensive. Do as Mouse has suggested and you should be fine.....I don't see anything wrong with your hardware.....it certainly seems like enough to run CotN. Good luck. :D
