When i first started expanding my population of farm workers i built two granaries near the farms to store the excess food. The problem was they did not do this and jus left it in one large threshing area, which wasnt helpful as i was hoping to export a lot of food.
I demolished the two granaries and re-built them in the same place. This time they get filled up as they should do normally.

Only "taxed" food goes into granaries (and bakeries) in general & this is a function of how well the counting Scribes are doing. Perhaps you had a good count this year?

Lots of variables here. I would not assume that rebuilding your granaries helped.

After your bakeries get their food, 500 a piece I believe, the rest goes in the graneries. They each hold 2000. So if ya got 3 bakeries, and only took in 1500 in taxes, you aren't gonna get anything in your graneries. Does that make sense?

And taxes & Scribe counting are two different things. Scribes don't tax. Scribes keep the Nobles honest!

You should now be entirely confused!

And finally it does not matter where you build granaries, they can be far away both from fields and bakeries and work well.

I place granaries up behind, or around, the area of or whatever to my palace. That way...*hehe* when I hold a festival in honor of Pharaoh over his death, "Hail the new boy king"....they party around the palace. Slick?
