I've had the game for four days, and I love it. But I keep getting crashes at various points in the game. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it: it can happen after a few minutes of playing or a few hours, and at any point in the game. I've uninstalled, defragged, rebooted and reinstalled, but it hasn't helped.
The pattern is that the cursor disappears, then the screen goes black and the cursor reappears followed by the error/closing message window. Since by then I have the cursor back, I can click on 'don't send' and it goes to blue screen then reloads the desktop. Sound keeps going, btw, so I have Egyptian music to listen to while it's happening. There are no other apps running while I play. Any ideas?

It appears that your video driver is the problem. Ati video cards need drivers dated July 2004 or later to work with CotN :D That should solve your problem.

Your video drivers aren too old, but they are older than the ones that most of us with ATI's are probably using. Try updating the ATI drivers to something newer than July 2004. Yours are dated June 2004. I am running the driver versin 4.10 from August 2004 without problems. Others are running the driver version from July 2004, November 2004, and some are even running the new 5.12 drivers from January/February 2005.
You will have to uninstall the current ATI drivers before you install any new driver.
Unless you have the Catalyst Control Panel version installed, I recommend that you get the non-Catalyst Control Panel version of the driver update. The Catalyst Control Panel requires the install of Microsoft Framenet 1.1, a 19MB download. Installing Framenet 1.1 will alter the way you boot up your computer. It will prompt you for a password (unless you are good with computers and can figure out how to get around that, I don't think you want to bother with all that.)
If you have the Catalyst Control Panel version of the current driver installed you have to uninstall the driver then the the Catalyst Control Panel. ATI has a Catalyst uninstaller program linked on the same page where you download the drivers. If you don't have the CCP then you don't really need the uninstaller.

Your audio drivers are a bit old. They could use an update.

There is a big fault in the last posting:
ATI has TWO sorts of controls:
The control-PANEL
and
The control-CENTER
ONLY when one installs the control-CENTER the Framework is also needed!
It is NOT needed hen one installs the control-PANEL!

Thanks for clarifying that. I usually call mine the control panel, even though it is clearly marked control center.
If it asks you to install Framenet 1.1 first, you probably don't want that version and should download the other control center version instead.

As a matter of fact.............there is no mix up possible if one has a closer look...............
------------------------------
I have added a view of the CONTROL-PANEL
I don`t have a view of the CONTROL-CENTER cos I haven`t got it installed......I don`t need it.

Thanks, I'll try that although I might have to come back for more detailed instructions! This is my first ever PC – I've always used a Mac but bought a PC late last year for games (November, which is why I assumed my drivers would be up to date), so I have very little idea what I'm doing ...
