Crash once gameplay loads

hey there... i'm having a bit of a problem, the game is crashing either a)before loading a game or b) just after the game loads, within 30 seconds. my processor speed is just below the minimum... it allowed me to start a game and get about 10 minutes into it before crashing. note:i made it through all the tutorials with minimal crashing... but i can't continue on with a campaign.

updated sound drivers... no help :-/

You need to update your video drivers to at least July 2004 your current drivers are 2001.

You need to update your video drivers to at least July 2004 your current drivers are 2001.No, no, no, Mouse. That's only for Nvidia cards. This one's a ATI.

Anything from August 2004 forward should do for the ATI Radeon 7200. My drivers for the 9800 Pro are from August 2004, Catalyst 4.10, others are using newer ones.

Before installing any new Catalyst drivers you must uninstall the old ATI driver first and also the the Catalyst contol panel software (if you have that version installed), then install the newer version driver.

Your sound card may be a little too old for this game as there are no updates available from Sound Blaster for it, but you might get by setting all audio settings to minimums or off.

With 768MB of RAM you may want to increase your page file maximum setting to 2304 (3 x 768). That may help somewhat, but I think your sound card may be the major problem here.

there are no updated sound drivers from where i'm at... let me try updating the ati drivers and i'll see what happens....

btw, i turned all sound off, and the game crashed before the grand campaign even finished loading... so i'm pretty sure it's not the culprit.

sooo the 4.11 catalyst files are... how shall i put this... the devil. its what windows xp installed by default... and they crash windows xp while booting with my config. how could i forget this wonderful version... so off to reinstall xp and then we'll see how things go from there.

i remember why i used 2000pro rather than xp now...

note: i still use my pc becauuuuuse? my mac never has any problems... meh, if there were only quality games for mac.
