Editor resolution?

For the first time today I went into the editing utility and after loading the screen is diagonally offset by a few hundred pixels so that it runs off the left and bottom end of the screen. The proportions looked different as well by I'm not absolutely positive of this. My best guess is that the editor is running at a different resolution than my default - I have an older monitor and it doesn't handle resolution switches well. (I normally run 1027x768x16 bit.) Am I correct in what the problem is? Can I override the resolution so it doens't change?

I you look in the editing forum, I am not the only person who is having a problem with the screen not fitting correctly when opening the editor.
