problem 1. I imported some obelisks, set the bases for them, but no-one will come to get them from the cargo dropoff and haul them to their bases.

problem 2. loads of traders seem to be congregating near one of my sphinxes. They appear to be trapped.

help?

1) ~Overseer set to oversee construction, not nearest site as this might be something such as mineing, or quarry, ect.
~ Overseer buisy doing other constructions such as statues or pyramids will cause a delay as he will go to base to base only a few at a time, then call it a day.
~ Enough laborers??? One overseer can direct several (over 40) laborers by himself.

2) ~ Close the trade routs and give it a year or two for the merchants and traders to collect thier goods and leave.
~ Build a merchant center or two if you have more than 5 or 6 merchants with a scribe set to collect tarrifs, build the required shops and baker near the merchant center so that the merchants that buy goods don't have to wander.
~ They may be useing the sphinx to hook thier donkey to as they go set up shop. Sometimes they take thier donkey with them into the tent, sometimes not. If they are merchants, they tend to do the former while traders will find a spot to park the donkey, like and object.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. The traders problem is solved now. It cleared itself.
I have hordes of labourers and 2 overseerers nearby. One overseeing the construction of the Great Pyramid and the other set to oversee nearest site. I'm not sure what the hold up is. I have 9 obelisks on the map.

Priorities.
Just as the noblels shop top down, so do the laborers labor from top down.

In accordance with MAX-1 it has been my experience that laborers who are directed by an overseer set to "oversee construction" will, inevitably, choose the most "prestigious" monument to construct first. This, of course, has only been a casual observation. :D

Are they the right sized obelisks for the bases? There are 2 sizes - obelisks and grand (large) obelisks.

You know, I just logged in here now to confess my utter thickness and plonkerdom.

I was trying to put ordinary obelisks on grand obelisk bases.

They still haven't built the obelisks but that is besides the point ROFLOL

Thanks :)
