I have had this problem with the Demo version, and hoped it would be fixed in the retail version but no luck...
The problem is, when I run CotN, it looks beautiful, except it doesnt fill my monitor's screen, and it sort of...wiggles very slightly. Almost a flicker, but its just, the image wiggles up and down barely enough to notice.
I've changed the resolution and everything, and all that does is change the quality of the picture, but its always the same size. Its not my monitor settings (center, picture height, length etc.) Windows is perfect. But the game, has a black bar down the right side of the screen approximately 1 inch wide, and a black bar on the top and bottom about 1/4 inch wide.
I've got the latest drivers for my video card, and my DXDiag is attached. I've downloaded the 1.2 patch and installed it. I tried to take a screenshot of the problem, but strangely, the screenshot looks perfect. I've made a simulation of what I see in game, and you can see that in the attached JPG. The areas that appear red in the screenshot appear black in the game.

You will probably have to change your video drivers to an older version which has shown to be more stable with CotN. Version 61.77 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html). Uninstall 66.93 before you install 61.77.

I cant do that. If I do that, none of my other games work right. I had to update the drivers to get them to work.
Guess I just have to tolerate the annoyance. Downgrading my drivers is a pretty strange and unacceptable excuse to get a game to work right.
(I do appreciate your assistance though!)

Ok, others have done it and don't seem to have a problem with their other games.
It's the driver not the game that is causing the problem. The absolutely latest drivers are not always the best choice. The graphic card manufacturers turn out new drivers like I change my socks, you can't blame a game that takes years to develop for not working with a current driver, especially when the older driver from the same manufacturer does work.
I tend to only update my drivers if a game doesn't work properly with the one I have. I'm running a ATI and they current driver for it is at least 2 or 3 iterations beyond the one that I am currently playing all my games with; without problems I might add.

@ troykristoffer:
Maybe you should try those drivers Keith is suggesting. Chances are your other games won't be affected too much but if they are, at least you tried it. You can always just go back to your newer drivers if your other games don't work right. :D

I will try it.
Its not that I have a beef with CotN in particular I suppose. Its just that I thought I finally was done with frustration w hen it comes to my new vid card. I bought it specifically to run several games and upgraded my motherboard and processor and ram to do so, and the games still ran badly until I updated the drivers. Now, in order to play another game I've been waiting for months to play I have to go back.
However, I will admit Im not sure which version of the drivers I *HAD* that ran badly, so I'll try my luck and rollback hoping that they are still newer than the ones I originally had :)
THanks for your help guys

Well...I rolled back to 66.77, but the problem is still there. Any other suggestions?

Did you mean 61.77, not 66.77, right?

I have the same Vid card. I have trouble still but was able to adjust the display settings till I found one that gives the best performance. Try changing your display settings. Some of the intro screens are belled out at the bottom, but the game screen is fine for me. I attribute it to my Ti 4600, which by todays standards is really only an adequate card. A few years ago it was the card to beat. ;) Don't you just love PC hardware? :D
btw, Nvidea only recommended level 61.77 drivers for the Ti4600, last time I checked, but that was a few months ago, actually november.

Ok, did you UNINSTALL the previous driver before you installed 61.77?
While I think of it what sort of monitor does your system have? Just curious...
