Hi all,
I'm experiencing the problem with labourers crowding into a barge landing and then just moonwalking for ever. Thing is, I've got the UK version which started at 1.1, and applied the 1.2 patch, and they still do it.
I've tried deleting and rebuilding all barge landings, demolishing all labourers' homes and even holding a festival to try and ferret them out but it's not happening. This is the last block I need to complete a pyramid, all other construction projects have long since finished and I'm pretty much stuck!
Can anyone help?
Cheers,
Jim Keir

I am afraid it is a big problem. The stuck block has been reserved to end the construction, so no other one will be utilized. If you begin another pyramid it should proceed well, but I am afraid this one is stuck forever.
I had the same problem with the statue for a cult temple, I built a second and dedicated and the statue went there very fast, while first was stuck.

Yeah, thought so. Is it worth uploading a saved game? I noticed the developers seem to have asked for these with other bugs. Especially since the 1.1 patch was supposed to have solved this problem.

Hi Jim Keir,
I suspect that Vic_4 is correct. Do you have an earlier save game before the haulers got stuck that you can go back too? It's quite possible that they won't get stuck again if you replay from there. Some additional barge landing / laborer tweaks went into patch 2 and while they didn't fix the bug in the save game, they're more likely to keep it from recurring. I think this approach is your best bet.
If an earlier save game isn't an option, there is a chance that there might be a workaround for the save game you describe above. There are some very clever folks on these boards and depending when & how things went wrong; they might be able to help. Post it and see what happens...
Good luck,
Greg

Thanks for the replies.
I'll not bother uploading I think. I finished the scenario a while ago, but I'd got the pyramid about 50% complete and only wanted to see it finished. I'll move on to the next.
I was just getting a bit worried; I've not played much yet but in every game I've tried to complete a large building project and had *something* get stuck at a barge landing. Kind of put me off trying again.
I'd thought that destroying and rebuilding all barge landings and labourers after applying the patch would have fixed it, but it seems not. The new labourers happily dragged the block to a new barge landing but then just piled in and started moonwalking again.
Anyway, I'll give it another go.
Thanks,
Jim

Are ypu sure you have barge landings on both sides of the rivers? I have got once stuck statues, but most of the time they work ok, another thing is not to build structures close to the barge landing.

Hi.
Yes, I definitely had them on both sides (three on one, four on the other) and none of them was particularly near anything else. Other stuff was crossing fine, all the other minor projects I had going were being completed no problem. I had to start building statues after a while because my prestige was dropping, and they got the statues across the river. I tried creating additional landings on both sides and destroying the one the labourers were stuck in; they'd drag the block off to a new landing and then just walk into the walls again. Same if I destroyed the labourers' houses, a new team would come up and walk face-first into the barge-landing walls. They don't even stop to go home. Seems to be something to do with the block itself.
There were four empty, unused local barges parked up near the landings, all "deciding what to do" so it wasn't shortages of materials for barges; lots of cedar in stock anyway. Two overseers, lots of spare labourers, a full team of four assigned to the cursed limestone block and, most annoyingly, about 150 limestone blocks on the *right* side of the river in cargo drop-off points :)
However, this game *was* started when the .exe was still at the original 1.1 so I'll try the next scenario and hope it doesn't happen there. If it *does*, (deep voice) I'll be back :D
Thanks,
Jim.

Unfortunatly patch don't work on progressing games so probably restarting is the only option.
