Unless I am reading what you are saying wrong, it is possible that you just need to center the image using your monitor controls.

The game will run in any resolution that is shown to you on the Display settings screen, these options are determined by Direct X and specific to your hardware configuration- your machine.

Once you start the game, you may have to center, resize, reshape the image. You should only have to do this once (for any dx app).

(Edit- I re-read your post, and it seems that you may have a problem that is beyond my description. If that is the case, please post your DXDIAG.)

I am experiencing a similar problem with the game (just purchased). I am not able to adjust the resolution, and the top menus are going off of the screen. I do not understand your advise on how to resize the image while in the game? The screen resolution is fine on the desktop, but as soon as I launch CotN, I lose about an inch to an inch-and-a-half on the left side of the screen.

I downloaded the patch and now as soon as I select the "Settings" tab, the game freezes.

I had a demo version previously, which had the same problems, but I just thought it was a problem with the demo.

Please advise. Thank you...

KMTiger you need to uninstall your current video drivers (they are too old), download and install the Ati drivers from July 2004 that should solve your problem.

The 4.10 drivers from August 28, 2004 should work fine too. That's what I'm running on my Radeon 9800 Pro.

The game will only use the resolutions that your monitor will support. So once you have the game running, go to the SETTINGS menu and then the VIDEO section. Set the resolution there to one that is same size or smaller to the resolution you are using on your desktop. You are using 1280x1024 according to your file so that size or smaller from the in-game video settings menu should be selected.

Make sure that the current drivers are uninstalled before you install a different version. If you have the ATI Catalyst Control Center software installed uninstall that as well. There are usually two versions of the driver update available. One that contains nothing but the driver updates and the other that contains the Catalyst Control Center software and the driver files.

The Catalyst Control Center software uses Microsoft Framnet 1.1 and requires that you have that installed first. Framenet 1.1's install will change the way your computer boots up. It will prompt you for the user account password to login on XP, unless you know your way around the computer and can change the settings to alter that setup.

I recommend downloading just the driver-only version of the file for those feint of heart when it comes to installing new complicated software.
