Ok... I have Windows XP Professional Edition, with 768 mb of RAM, Pentium 4 processor 3.2 ghz, 320 GB of hard drive space and I hava NVIDIA GeForce 5200FX video card. I have went through all of the tech support FAQ's and proceeeded to do all the steps there but the game is very choppy, lags and just generally will not move when scrolling the mouse. I dont know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Naughti

Do you have your P4 setup to Hyperthread? This can be set via the BIOS menu on bootup. Reboot and keep tapping F2 as soon as the computer starts to loadup the operating system.

On the BIOS menu find the line that refers to the CPU and enable Hyperthreading, if it is not already. Exit and Save the change, if you make one.

Next, when was the last time you did a disk cleanup and defragmentation? Might be time.

You may want to increase the size of you page file maximum file size to about 2300 from the current 1696. Click Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/System. Click on the Advanced tab. Click on the Settings button in the Performance section. Click on the Advanced tab. Click on the Change button in the Virtual Memory section. Click on Custom size and change the maximum size to 2304 (3x768=2304). Click SET. Click OK. Click APPLY and OK. Reboot.

You may want to try using the older Nvidia 61.77 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html) drivers to see if they help smooth things out too. You'll need to uninstall your current drivers before you install the other version. I would do this step last if the others fail to help.

Your running both on board sound and Audigy 2ZS very likely you have also have a sound conflict. Once you boot into windows you'll need to uninstall the drivers for the c-media sound card. At boot up go into the bios/setup and disable the onboard sound.

Very likely your problem is caused by programs running in the background while trying to play CotN. Make sure you try off your virus scanner and/or any other scanning software running in the background. Scan your system for spyware which can hamper game performance.

You still have the wrong video drivers installed. The drivers you need are 61.77. The drivers your using are from Oct 2004 they are too new to work with CotN. You will need to turn off system restore, uninstall the drivers, reboot install the drivers 61.77, reboot and turn system restore back on.

I have resolved a similar problem on my NVidia card (the graphics doesn't follow the mouse, etc.) just through turning to 16 bits color depth.

PS. I am using the latest drivers.
