Could you send us your DxDiag to help us troubleshoot? Thanks.

I'll post my dxdiag as well, if that helps ... since I have the same issue. It looks okay when I first come into the game, but if I change to any other res, it cuts away the top slice of the screen, and flickers. I'm running DirectX 9c, latest Nvidia drivers w/an Asus Ti4200 (128mb), an Athlon 2600+ w/512MB Corsair ... and my refresh rate is set at 85Hz, 1280x1024 outside of CotN. Is the refresh rate/resolution causing a problem? I waited 20 minutes on the phone last night for tech support - finally had to give up. Help! My card/monitor will handle much higher res's than 1024x768-16, or the CotN default. Also ... I've applied the 1.1 patch.

Hi,

I have a display issue that seems related to this.

When I first loaded up the game the default screen settings caused my display to be totally skewed. Both the intro pages, where you select options, as well as when in game mode. It was off center to the left and flared out at the bottom. The game controls were nearly 3/4IN off the screen on each side at the bottom. The control panel edges were well off the screen. The top was out perhaps 1/4IN. (No controls up there)

I did not want to adjust my monitor off of it's settings for skew and centering, etc. that I had previously set. I could have adjusted them, but then when out of game I would have to adjust them back out of a pinched in mode at the bottom every time.

After adjusting my display through ALL the settings available in the game, I found that 1280x1024x32 worked for the game screen. However, I have not been able to adjust the Options screens out of their "flared-off-the-screen" look.

Interestingly, there was ONE time after I had just installed the patch, (not sure it's related, but I add that little fact) and was exiting the game for the night after about 6 hours of play, that the Options screen showed the entire screen! (Gee, I never knew there were little square graphics on the ends of the selection buttons! My selection buttons are cut off right about where the little blue jewels are on the right side of each button. Of course the bottom ones are further off the screen than the top one.)

Just FYI, I am a totally gonzo gamer, have played many many PC games, have taken decent care of my PC hardware, ie patches, updates, etc. This type of graphics issue has never come up before. It seems that the game program overrides local display settings somewhere in it's opening routines.

I'm not sure how to post my Dxdiag results. Do you mean a screenshot? If so, do you want the Display page? Suffice to say that I have no errors or conflicts with Dxdiag in video whatsoever. I also have SandraSIS, and have access to incredibly detailed system information and utilities. No major problems remaining on my machine as far as I have delved into the inner workings of it. (Do you want to find out just how deep the rabbit hole goes? -Morpheus, The Matrix. :))

Here are my system specs:
P4-2.0GHz 400mHz fsb, 512 RDram@800mHz
ASUSTek V8460 Ultra GeForce4 Ti4600-128 w/61.77 driver
DirectX 9c
SB Audigy Audio DF80 v5.12.0001.0253
WinXP home SP2
Intel D850EMV2 MB w/v25 bios(latest)
WD800JB 80Gig HD w/41%free space
Normal Windows display settings are 1280x1024x32 @ 70Hz
Monitor is a Viewsonic P95f+ 19IN (18IN viewable screen)

(Alienware website utility rated my system in a comparison test to their midrange Area-51 desktop, to be within 5-10%. It also called my system a "performance machine" and stated there were no marked improvements to be gained by purchasing the compared Alienware system, seems pretty cool to know. :D However, it wasn't their Top-of-the-line model I compared mine too. $ talks volumes m8 )

I am not sure but your video card may not support T&L or be DX9 compliant. The skewed graphics also seem to suggest it might be a driver problem.

A list of cards that support T&L is here:

To post things like DXDIAG.TXT use the MANAGE ATTACHMENTS button below the area where you type your message.

Keith,

Thanks for the info. Your link shows that my Nvidea GeForce4 supports T&L.

"Nvidia- GeForce SDR/DDR, GeForce2, GeForce3, GeForce4, GeForce FX"

Also I know that my drivers are up to date. I play many other games. Most of them are considerably more demanding on a vid card than this game would appear to need to be. Certainly a static screen wouldn't require a whole lot of T&L, would it? :)

In any case, I took the time to figure out how to post Dxdiag results. First I needed to select "save all information" on the main screen of Dxdiag. Then, I would have something other than a screenshot of the main screen to upload. (I have never had a reason to "save" the data before this.) I have attached my results. I hope this helps the developers of the game come up with a solution.

Btw, Keith. I like your musicbox links (http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4416). I agree that the music is well worth listening to. :D
