When your company finally gets all the bugs straigtened out let me know. Until then I am uninstalling the game and putting it on the shelf. Between all of the crashing problems, freezes, computer restarts, and a lag problem thats just amazing, I have had it. I like the game, but I can't get it to run for longer than a couple of minutes before it completely freaks out.

It needed more testing in the beta phase.

Airboss, I feel your pain, I have similar problems and they are ones that NOBODY else has :)

Murphy and I are bestest friends.

Fortunately I'm either very patient, very stupid or just mule-headed (or all 3) but I set auto save to 5 and keep plugging along.

Anything created by man is subject to fail and it could be anything from a slightly less then perfect video card to a slightly less then perfect single unknown component in my machine. CoTH makes good use of some of the best technology available and its stressing something on my machine that no other game I've played has put to the test before. Likely, I'll never know and having done everything possible, short of buying a new computer, I just have to deal with it.

The one thing I can't blame is TM. There are a gazillion seperate setups out there and no way to test each and every one. If, they can create a product that runs on the majority of the machines out here, they surely can't be faulted for the few of us that have problems. Sadly, for the 2 of us, we fall under that category.

I feel for you, I really do. I've spent DAYS downloading, uninstalling old and installing new drivers, endless web searches and hours of research to no avail. I know its my machine, I've had others test my saves who had no problems what so ever and in the end I've decided to just accept it and carry on the best I can.

We will miss you and I wish you all the best. Big Virginian Hug! (You look like you needed one :) )

Mulluane was much more gracious in explaining the situation than I probably will be. The bottom line is that for the vast majority of users running the recommended specs (not the minimum, bah!), this game runs fine. For those few that have performance (low fps or crash related) problems, I'd bet my next harvest the problem is with your computer, either hardware or software. I myself have picked up something that causes the game to crash during startup (cd starts spinning... BSOD), but you don't hear me complaining to TM, primarily because I know that everything worked just dandy thru the beta and right after release. I can assure you the game was thoroughly tested in the beta. So quit your complainin' when you don't know what you're talking about. You have the right to be unhappy, but you're seriously misplacing your anger in this situation.

The few problems I've had with the game have as it's been said my system not the game. There are a number of system problems that only show up when a system is stressed. Things that can cause problems:
stuff running in the background
outdated drivers
not enough free space on the hard drive either/or for running the operating system or the game
dirty drive (cd-rom/dvd-rom) if the drive has been in use for some time it will be dirty
conflict with software installed on your system
system that isn't maintained by using disk cleanup, scan disk and defrag
weak power supply not getting enough power to assorted hardware

This list could go on and on.

TM has not control over any of these things.

I know the game was beta tested, I was one of the testers. The game actually worked great on my machine up until beta patch 5. After that I had nothing but trouble. As far as my machine goes there is nothing loaded on it at this time. I just formatted the hard drives over the weekend, got XP up and running, and installed Nortons (which gets disabled during play.) All CD drives were cleaned, as was the power supply. All of the drivers are the newest versions, and my RAM checks out fine on a bench test. Even my BIOS is up to date, so I can not think of anything in my machine that would cause this game to act so strangely.

Sorry you're leaving, AirBoss! I know there are people out there who are having troubles running the game smoothly, but I'm not sure that it's inherrantly the game's fault. I've been running CotN for quite a while now, and haven't had ANY crashes, graphics glithces, or other problems. The only things I've run into have been the known bugs that were addressed in the patch.

The game is amazingly stable on my system, sorry to hear it's not on yours. I just hope you don't lose out on playing this awesome game because of your system incompatibility problems!

Cheers

You know, you guys, if you still have the box, you can take it back to yhe store for an excahnde. Maybe the cd you got was dropped when unloading and is damaged. Before giving up hope, uninstall. Go to the store, exchange and install.

If yours shipped to Europe, I don;t know what to say.

It might help. Happt T.G. :)

AirBoss,
I like the game too. I've only been playing a short while. You have been in this for a whole lot longer than I. I hope to see you back. I've enjoyed reading your posts.

MyrddynX,
Would you mind posting your System specs? Just curious. Thank you Sir.

Salute!
