Hello cherie,
Sometimes that kind of message indicates that your desktop resolution is too low for the game to run. Try increasing the resolution of your windows desktop to something like 1024x768 and then running the game again.
Let us know if that helps!
Cheers,
Chris

Please can someone suggest an answer, i have uninstalled, defraged, reinstalled checked and updated everything, re-downloaded direct from cotn site and still the same, i have read every suggestion that might even work or be causing it and tried but to no avail, i just dont understand why, i more than meet the min requirement and have even tried switching off all non essential items such as norton etc running in the background so the only thing running would be the demo but still bouncing cube on black screen with the game music playing,

have you checked your screen refresh rate? sounds like it might be set too high for the game. looks like it only supports up to 120hz. since you use nvidia it might have a refresh rate override set... I know at one point I had mine at 150hz on lower res lol...

hmmm, been a while since you updated your VIA drivers :) might want to try that especially the AGP drivers. (motherboard drivers) I've had problems with older AGP drivers before but I can't say if that has anything at all to do with it. My last MB used a via chipset also (I think this one does as well but it's not even 6 months old yet hehe.) and I remember a lot of problems due to the antique drivers shipped with it especially the AGP ones... something about the change in AGP port architecture a few years back and although the old drivers work they don't take advantage of the new AGP port features or something like that ;)

hi
tried that, have now updated the via agp controller installed the new via 4 in 1 chipset install program and let it update those still the same. have added yet a new dxdiag to prove. have even tried the newer nvidia driver even though told it might not work

Sounds like a corrupted download/install (which you're already re-done) or a graphics driver problem.
Next thing to try I think is some (much) older NVidia drivers that we've found to be pretty stable.
