I love this game, I just wish it didn't have so many technical problems. I am up to speed on my graphics card, and drivers and have no problems with other games that I install and play.

This game crashes to the desk top all the time. It seems that after I have started building a city the bigger it is, the faster it crashes. Also When you first start a game the mouse moves smoothly as you move the map around. However, after you start building a city, things get choppy and it is if the map can't catch up moving as I move the mouse, I'm constantly waiting, then it catches up and jerks all over the place. It really ruins the game.

I have explained this as best I can, I'm not a tecky type person and don't like screwing around with my system to support a game. I would think it should work without a lot of adjustments.

I hope a patch will come out to fix this. I notice a lot of other people have posted with similar problems. I can't believe we all have inferior computers.

Thank you

Diane

I have experienced a similar issue, I attribute the problems to a heavily graphical and complex game. I've taken to slowly lowering my in-game graphics as my city grows. Although I have not had to reduce to 800 x 600 yet, I suspect that I will need to in a city of over 15 nobles with corresponding population (prob 1000 in toto).

However, I think it is important to recognize that these options are available to us. I don't have a cutting edge gaming system and will most likely not upgrade soon. But the fact remains I can still run this game successfully and can adjust the games graphics to deal with issues that crop up...

Meszziah,
Could you post your DxDiag to help us determine what the cause of the problems is?

To do so, click on the start button and select run.
Type DxDiag and hit enter.
Wait for the program to collect system information and diagnostics
Click save all information and note where it is saved.
Then attach the file here.

(I apologize if this is redundant information)

Here's a question I don't see asked much that may contribute resolving all those crash report problems.....

Is your video and sound card DirectX 9 compliant?

Beats me? I have no Idea if they are compliant or not. How can I tell? As you can tell, I'm not into the inner workings of the computer. I do know that I have had no problems with any other programs or games I have installed excet for a few minor problems that a patch fixed. I have installed Lords of the Realm III, Divine Divinity, Castle Strike, Sacred, Civilization III, Sim City 4, etc. and have had no problems. Maybe that will give you a clue.

Thanks for your input, we may figure this out yet.

Diane

Unless you got your computer, video card, or sound card in the last year they may not be DirectX 9 compliant. You'd have to ask your card's manufacturer if it is compliant or not.

Instead of going through your card's manufacturer, we can probably determine whether it is compliant and let you know if that's easier.
