Remember in Pharaoh, when the priests, and the bazaar women would wander around blindly throughout your entire city rather than staying in the residential area to do their job? Will COTN's AI be smart enough to stay in the places that they are needed to be?

Erm...I used roadblocks to keep the walkers in some semblance of order...

I do hope the AI is, in general, a bit smarter, though.

"Hey, fireman! Why are you in the flood plain??" :)

"Streetwalkers"? I think you're confusing us with some other game. :D

In CotN, citizens don't sit around hoping that someone will pass by with what they need. The concept of "access walkers" is gone.

That would make for a very smart devellopper in stead of a smart walker AI :)

I already figured from the various articles that there would be no access walkers, but there must still be some walkers that more or less randomly patrol, right? Like inspectors, will they then be smart enough to know they won't have to check for fire on the floodplains f.e.?

After reading several articles, I thought that instead of haveing a women go get food and then walking around trying to sell it like in Caesar 3, the person who wanted food would walk to the market themselves and get it. Therefore, you dont have to worry about a person walking by their house to get them food.

While this does work for food, I don't know what they would do about fires and what not.

No doubt go out and grab a wandering fireman, who could be skylarking in the flood plain. :D

Thank god, I'm glad access walkers are gone. For COTN, is it like Sim City 4, where a building provides for all the other buildings in it's radius?

I've read somewhere that that too is not the case.

Hmm... then can the programers give us any information?

The concept of "access walkers" is gone.

This does not mean that nobody walks the street the way I read it. There just won't be any access walkers. Now who would be defined as an access walker? Would a citizen looking for goods and services (i.e. going to the marketplace) be considered an access walker? I think someone coined the term reverse walkers at HeavenGames and so far we didn't get a negative to that one, so who knows.

That'll be me then :D

Although I was theorising in advance of the facts at the time, what I've seen since hasn't caused me to change my mind.

The way I see things working, people are going to be going out and looking for the goods and services they need. Should they be unable to find them, or only have an irregular supply of goods they need (because there aren't enough workshops producing them/shops selling them), then growth of your city will stall, and eventually people will start to become unhappy.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a change to the way things like fire protection are handled in the game. While we've all come to know and love the 'send out patrolling firemen to prevent fires ever breaking out' approach, that's not the way it works in real life. And since the goal of the TM team has been to create as true-to-life a city as possible, I'd expect to see a more realistic system in place here too.

Perhaps we'll no longer be able to prevent the occasional fire breaking out, but will need to rely on our fire service to prevent it escalating out of control. Any buildings damaged by the fire could then be automatically rebuilt/repaired by your citizens (perhaps requiring money and/or materials).

If you need any more wild and crazy theories, just ask :)

Walkers are gone? Woohoo! I loved them in some games, but I think their time is done. Do something new!! Yay!!
