One of the things I liked most about Caesar 3 and Pharaoh was the fact that the Help file entries contained real-world historical info about their respective cultures. Look up "Beer" in Pharaoh, and you got a brief description of how it's used in the game, and also how beer was used in ancient Egypt.

That was cool. It was definitely something I missed in Zeus and Emperor. And it's something I'd love to see make a comeback in CotN.

I imagine the only thing that may prevent such an addition would be the time involved in culling it together. There are so many good reference books out there, I wonder if TPTB would take the time to add it in-game, or just provide an exhaustive bibiliography in the manual or in a game file or something.

If they need someone to do the research, my e-mail is in my profile :p .

Seriously, I loved the info that came with C3 and Pharaoh.

Heh. I'm sure there are several people on these boards who'd jump at the chance to do some research for them. :D

Those help guides were truely valuable to me in my youth, I think I read them all. It really put me ahead of the curve in all my history classes, (which either says something about the quality of your information, or the quality of a public education  ) But seriously the amount you can learn from a game like that is astounding, please include history "Think of the children!" :D

I had a lot of fun while reading the history entries in Pharaoh (which, as I've mentioned several times in different CB boards, is my all-time favourite CB game :D ) - it would be nice if you could include, and if you don't have the itme, maybe we can organize things and collect the information for you? It would be a nice way to prove our loyalty to the ultimate cause ot TM Entertainment - WORLD DOMINATION!!!

:p :D :D

I believe it was both Chris Beatrice and Ken Parker that mentioned that the game will have an extensive in-game help menu system that essentially takes the place of the hard copy manual of old.

Any info on this now that its gone 'Gold' ???Help does include links to some historical entries. Not nearly as many as I wish I'd had time for, alas. Those were a lot more fun than writing about interface components.

At least we have the forums so that you and anyone else can answer historical questions when they come up.

Maybe as a patch or in the expansion pack? :D

Google is your friend! There's plenty of fascinating and accurate information at sites like TourEgypt, the Theban Mapping Project, the British Museum, etc. There's also a lot of crazy mystical stuff out there, which can be almost as fun to read. Although you never want to take any one website's information as gospel, it's not too hard to tell the authoritative from the...shall we say, speculative. In-game info is great too, don't get me wrong.
