View Full Version : Number Served

Even though it is not a necessity, I like to have knowledge of the number of CotNizens served the year before. That is useful in determining where congestion is and isn't. However, all of my buildings always report "0" served last year? Even after many many (game years) years of play. I know they are being served, I can watch them enter the building and watch it report how many are being served in the immediate instance, but not last years total. I mean it isn't a McDonalds advertisement :D, I need it for allocation purposes. While I can still play the game fine, it helps me fine tune things. Any ideas? I am running it as "administrator" with VISTA Ultimate. Version 1.2 (the SEGA version).

Did you install the latest patch?

Since then, numbers in temples and hospitals should be given correctly.

Version 1.3 will not install...I get an error "unknown version installed". I currently have version 1.2 the SEGA version not the regular retail box. However, I know that data updated before when I had version 1.2 installed. I have since upgraded to VISTA and reinstalled several times. Very odd.

Howdy, Acu-Ra!
What do you mean "I currently have version 1.2 the SEGA version not the regular retail box"?
Sega version is also a cd.
The "0 Served" was a bug introduced with the 1.1 patch (it worked before) & fixed with the 1.2 patch.
You sure your game is 1.2?
The 1.3.01 patches for various languages only work with official cd game versions.

Yes, it is a CD version. It stores it in a different location "Program Files/SEGA/Immortal Cities". When I point the updater to that location it provides an error, "Unkown Version (of CotN.exe)". They have the patch to update it to version 1.2 on the CD it came on so I would think that it would be 1.2...I even ran the patch from the CD just to be sure. The patch on the CD (to version 1.2) did install fine and stated success. :)

And you still have the "0 Served" bug? Something doesn't add up for me.
Sega is the European version of the Game. Did you use the 1.3.01 UK version patch?

I did not try the UK version. Only the US version.

Try the UK version of enhanced 1.3.01. The US version should not work with the Sega version of the game. ;)

Ok, I did that now it will not run, but it did seem to know what it was doing and installed. Now I get an error d3dx9_33.dll was not found...I am going to try and uninstall and reinstall it a little later.... :)

I had the same problem when I installed the patch (posted somewhere). I just downloaded the d3dx9_33.dll file and all is ok.
You can scan for errors and\or download the d3dx9_33.dll file at this page (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_33). Download is toward the bottom of screen.

Yep, the 1.3.01 patch needs an upgraded directX if you don't already have it.
TM has a link to it here (http://www.immortalcities.com/cotn/downloads/patch.php) where you got the patch.
Note: Children of the Nile: Enhanced Edition requires a DirectX 9.0c redistributable from April 2007 or later. You can download the latest DirectX redistributable here - extract it to a folder, double-click the DXSETUP file inside that folder, and follow the prompts.

I am using VISTA, and that should already be installed. Thanks for the DLL download. I have found my old box version and will try updating that. With the previous version it did work quite nicely like spring breeze with those feel good moments... and most importantly worked energetically. Thank you.
