Hey ok i simply joined this forum to get help... This is my situation. I can play the Children of the Nile game on Steam without any problems at all for 30 mins or so and then it crashes to desktop. I restart it and 2 mins later it crashes again always 2 to 3 mins apart after that. i really don't know what to do. I really love the game but I hate that I paid for it and love it so much but it crashes constantly what do I do?

The place to start is to attach your dxdiag.txt file anytime you request help.

Start > Run then type "dixdiag" without the quotes. Click OK. Let it finish. "SAVE ALL RESULTS" to your My Documents folder to make it easy to find. Then use the Manage Attachment button below the text window to attach the file to your next reply.

There doesn't appear to be much wrong in you dxdiag.txt file, except you are using a rather large and odd screen resolution (1680 x 1050).

Have you tried verifying the cache for CotN on Steam? Start Steam. Go to My Games. Right click on the CotN2008 icon and select Properties. Under the Local Files tab click on the "Verify integrity of game cache." When it's done try the game again.

If that doesn't work make sure that you have any sort of virtual drive software like Daemon Tools, Alcohol %120, CloneCD, Anti-Blaax, or similar disabled or uninstalled.

In the game try setting Shadows to None on the Video menu. You may want to try lowering the rest of the settings of the shadows settings change doesn't do it.

There have been cases where the game crashes during the autosave function. Try setting the autosave frequency to zero. This turns off the autosave. If it cures your problem you'll just have to remember to make a periodic manual save as you play.

If none of the above seems to do any good, we may have to get into disabling other background startup processes running on your system.
