Game did not start after update

I've bougth the german version of CotN via Steam, the game works perfectly. After the the new update was installed, the game won't start and shows the following error message:

Same for me but with Windows Vista.
So we can exclude a Vista related problem.
The problem is in the patch.

This is not a hardware problem or a software conflict: there's a fatal problem with the latest file that stores the German text (the French and Italian text have the same issue). We should have a fix for you shortly.

Edit: the problem was actually with French and Italian, not French and Spanish.

I have also the steam version (german version) and cannot start.

I have tried something out. If you right click "Children of the Nile" in Steam game browser and change the language from german to english (in properties) the game will work without any problems (i can play the game in english now, german is impossible).

i've killed most of the backround applications and services - but the game didn't start :(
The next step would be the audio driver to uninstall and reinstall, but i think the problem is solved, see below: :D

This fix is now up; you can grab the new patch for German, Italian, and French from here (http://www.immortalcities.com/cotn/downloads/patch.php), or it will be automatically downloaded if you use Steam.
