So... first I got the d3dx9 error, then after downloading everything I got ANOTHER one -

"This application has failed to start because binkw32.dll was not found. etc etc.."

What the heck is THAT?

It would help to say what version of the game you have meaning wheter it is direct2drive etc.

By most errors with that file are due to pirated copies of games.

If you don't have a pirated copy. Reinstall the game either from the disc or the legit download site for example steam.

I don't have a pirated copy... I bought it at Walmart a looong time ago.

I'll try reinstalling and see what happens... *sigh*

Warcraft just released a patch as well and it's also causing more problems than it solved... Must be an epidemic.

After installation, there should be a binkw32.dll file located in the same directory as the Children of the Nile executable (usually "C:\Program Files\Tilted Mill\Children of the Nile" or "C:\Program Files\SEGA\Immortal Cities") -- do you see one there?

I fixed it --- no idea how, though...

Yes, the file was there, I guess my game just freaked out or something. *shrug*

I have had the sme problems. First of all the version was unknown - but I had the wrong patch, I needed the British one. Don't know why.
Then I had the error message saying a file was missing. Bugger. So I uninstalled the whole programme and started it again.
Thshi time it got as far as the "please wait" screen. And it stopped there, with about 2 mm of progress on the bar.
Anyone else had that? I've no idea what to do now - the computer just freezes. No error messgae, nothing. Just stops.

Me again. I'm downloading another version of Direct X and hope that will solve the problem, although I had thought my version was fairly up to date. Will complain again soon if it doesn't work... if I go quiet you can imagine me happily building pyramids.
