Game Issue

After successfully installing the 1.3 english update patch for CoN I am having a problem. At the opening screen, where it says "Please Wait..." and the bar at the bottom loads the game: The bar sometimes makes it all the way across and other times makes it 1/3 of the way across before locking up the game. The only way to exit out is to use the task manager to shut down the program. I am running Windows Vista (Service Pack 1). I have included the DXDiag file. I also tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it. The same problem occurred.

Just a wild guess, but do you have the right patch? There is a difference, if UK or US patch.

Yes I downloaded the US patch, but I can try again to be sure.

I reinstalled the game and installed the US update patch (1.03). I then shut my laptop down, waited a minute, then rebooted. The game worked the first time I started it up. Then, to make sure it works correctly, I exited and tried to start the game again. I had the same issue. The only way around it was to hit the windows button (next to the alt key) on my keyboard while the game was loading. This worked, however when I get to the actual game, when it goes to load the map the whole game crashes.

Have you tried setting the cotn.exe to "run as administrator"? You may want to also try setting it to run in the compatability mode as Windows XP.

Changing the compatability mode to Windows XP worked! Thank you!
