Let's hear your comments on this patch, particularly the run-time crash people.
Hey folks,
Just patched up from Patch 1 to the second patch and now I get the following message every time I try to launch the game. :(
"Conflict with Emulation Software" is all it says. Game was working fine with just Patch 1, and no, I'm not emulating anything, no NoCD crack or any such thing. Read a similar thread on the EA forums, but no replies there and felt I should post here for Tilted Mill folks to see.
Tried a reinstall and then patch 2, but no luck. I don't understand why this problem is popping up now. Any help greatly appreciated!

Do you run Daemon tools or any other software that can mount a disk image? I got that message the first time I tried to run with the new patch installed. I exited Daemon tools then restarted the game and everything was fine.

after installing patch 2, i can't get into the game at all.
the loading bar fills up quickly enough, though painting terrain seems to take a little while, then i hear the fireworks and the game crashes.
any ideas?

I don't. Sorry if that wasn't clear before. I'm stumped!
*Edit*
Update:
Completely clean install, tested it once before installing any patches, ran fine. Patched up, and I get the conflict message. Back to patch 1 for me for now, I guess... Hope someone finds the problem and a fix for it... Happy playing, those who don't have issues!

I have a good new PC and I couldn't build but small towns before this patch, but now I can go on without freezing and crashes using my old saves. Haven't got very far from that, so let's see what will happen when I really get big ones, hopefully nothing except that I can build even more. :)
Well, I get further into the game than before, but...

The program SimCitySocieties.exe version 1.0.1.38 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Problem Reports and Solutions control panel. Ed, you've got a nice PC there, the same graphic card as I have, but I have Win XP, didn't want Vista. But one thing in your dxdiag, where is your C drive and the rest?
Heres the new dxdiag. Had an error before.
I've also headed over to EA and resubmitted the bug report with the new update.

I've still got the screen freezing problem. Here is my DxDiag. Cities created before and after the patch will crash however I can now Window's key to the desktop, ctrl-alt-delete to get taskmanager, and then I can kill the process where as before I had to reboot the computer to recover from the crash. I've done a complete reinstall of the game and made sure to clear out all the old files and folders.

I am getting annoyed with this game, the screen freezes everytime I move around the map. But the game still runs while the screen is still blank.
Here is my DxDiag, please help. It is my first time paying full price for a game.

panikattak: Seems that your drivers are a little too old, 2006. Get new drivers from nvidia and retry.
Majid: Is that a laptop? Generally, SCS does not run on laptops. It may, but there's guarantee that is will work properly.

12-22-2007, 09:42 AM
oh no, really? I wish I new that before I bought the game.
What can I do to make it work? Please advice.
Majid, I'm sorry to hear you are having freezing problems. I know how you feel, I too had them but the latest patch seemed to fix them for me. So you have a laptop, a bit older one. Since there isn't much you can do (having a newer graphic card or such) perhaps you could check your background software, so that you close as many unnecessary ones as possible. I have only 4 running there, my firewall, antivirus thing, one nvidia, and one more. General cleaning (meaning using a registry cleaning software like Ccleaner, it's freeware) and then defrag might help. :)

Crashes more often now than it did before. I guess I'll go back to windowed mode.
At least Vista catches it before it locks up my PC forcing me to "button" it. Not good for RAID setups.
I'm not giving up on this game yet. I like playing it too much.

The game still crashes, even quicker than before. Very frustrating that there is no fix for this.

Well, your graphic card is a directX9 one but it is below than what is the required nVidia Geforce FX5900 or greater. So what can I say.
Your audio drivers are from 2002, so you might want to get newer ones there.

I really don't know what is 'wrong' here. You've got the same graphic card as I but you even have more recent drivers for it. It can't be Vista (or could it be), I have Xp and the game works fine after the second patch. Hope somebody would get a fix for you too. :)

it's ridiculous that so many people are still having issues after 2 patches, and a month and a half of waiting.

Same run time error as before. Drivers up to date, all hotfixes installed. I'm going to try a clean install, if that doesn't work, straight to the garbage bin. I've had it.
Now I've played a bit more I'm in the mind that it hasn't actually changed anything for me regarding the freezing. I get an hours play and build a small city but as soon as it begins to even near mid size it chugs along then freezes. As mentioned before, I really enjoy the game and can't wait to be able to get the most out of it.
Guys, if you haven't already, update drivers and hotfixes, apply the second patch and test. If/when it freezes then complete the bug submission form (http://simcitysocieties.ea.com/community/qa_form.php).

My crash wasn't even addressed in this patch (Crash at clicking create user or options). I've been waiting over a month and haven't even gotten to the crash most people have. I really wonder if I will EVER even get to see the game period right now. If this patch didn't fix anything and it took this long to come up with, how many months do I have to wait before my issue is actually addressed? :(

Having the same problem as Zahn getting message "Conflict with Emulation Software". Game ran fine with before installing 2nd patch. I am not running any Daemon tools or any other software that can mount a disk image before any one ask. This makes no sense because it was running fine before. Any suggestions???

I'm getting the same problem I had before the 2nd update. It would load the game up just fine and everything, but when it comes time to load the map, it crashed just after "Painting Terrain" is working while loading any map. I tried lowering settings, and windowed mode, but same thing everytime. :(
Any ideas, please?
Perhaps the update is a feature update, not a stability one.

Here are the facts from update number 2:
see the pdf-file attached (english version)
So patch 1 is NOT needed anymore. It is included in patch 2

Installing the new driver didn't work. Textures now go black, like some buildings and intersections, and the screen still freezes. But since my video card isn't supported and I should have known that before hand, there's not much I can complain about.

Thanks, I was not aware that the GeForce 6200 was below the FX 5900, now I am. I installed the game on another computer in the house with Vista on it and upgraded that video card and the game works fine. My computer is not upgradeable (no PCI-E slots) maybe Santa will bring a new computer.
azwalt67, I'm glad you are able to play the game now. Happy gaming :) :) :)

If you have AGP, you can upgrade just up to an ATI X1950 Pro, which can play the game fine.

Your copy protection is detecting Nero ImageDrive on my system. It's fully disabled -- in fact it won't even run on Vista -- and the game refuses to start. In XP, I required this piece of software to run other day-to-day tasks, and I'm not using it to steal software.
I am not a thief.
I am not stealing.
I am not some jackass in his mother's basement trying to copy your software and take your money.
I am not using Nero ImageDrive to attempt to play a stolen version of your software.
I am just a regular person trying to play a game his wife got him as a Christmas present.
EA and its associates treats everyone like a criminal -- a thief, trying to steal its software. That's pathetic. That's stupid. That's asinine. More importantly, it's biting the hand that feeds you, and it's deceptive sales and fraud.
Please tell me how to play the game without having to uninstall Nero, having to go through a series of 18 clicks to disable it, or else have a Director or VP e-mail me. Thank you.

I just downloaded the patch and I'm now having the "Conflict with Emulation software" problem. I'm not going to delete Nero. I need it for plenty of legitimate reasons. So I guess its deleting and reinstalling for me (assuming that works). I really wish EA would reign some of this in. I'd love to buy some of the newer Sims packs, but not if its going to seriously harm my system.

If the copy protection finds your CD emulation software and complains about it, maybe it would help to not automatically start the emulation, but only when you need it. That way, the Securom copy protection can't find the running software and it should work. I'm pretty sure that Securom does not scan the disk for installed files, but just the running processes.
It may also help to ask Securom officially, there may be a patch or something, like there was some time ago with Caesar IV.
Seems like a number of folks are having the same "Conflict with Emulation Software" issue after Patch 2...
Hope this can be resolved at some point. Guess everyone's still on Christmas holiday?
Am enjoying the game with Patch 1, just hoping for a working Patch 2 for a belated Christmas present! :D

Hey Manni,
Leerlaufprozess
System
winlogon.exe
services.exe
svchost.exe
spoolsv.exe
csrss.exe
hidserv.exe
MSTask.exe
WinMgmt.exe
taskmgr.exe
IEXPLORE.EXE
Explorer.EXE
Trotzdem kommt immer noch diese beschissene Fehlermeldung

In Urlaub..........so so....schön! Zu beneiden der Mann. :)
Was läuft da so alles mit XP-Start?

In welchen beiden Software-Ordner meinst du?

In welchen beiden Software-Ordner meinst du?

I don't know a bit of German, but I'll bet money they're talking about the effects of SecuRom. EA used to use SafeDisc, but switched over to SecuRom (first noticed on TS2: Bon Voyage). It didn't work because a cracked copy was online within 24 hours of the game's release. I'm still trying to get my cd burner to work (my preferred way of saving pictures I've taken).

to avoid further headaches for you...........yes it is for copy protection.
ChrisKrüger did have daemon tools on board so the game wouldn`t run.......apart from other reasons. The deamons are off now but it still won`t run.
I gave him note where to look in registry to find leftovers.
That`s all..........if there will be a positive result I`ll let you know.
