I bought SimCity Societies last Thursday. I came across the following problems:

First of all, I tried a clean installation by using the original DVD.
After initiating the setup file, it returns that "Error reading from
file f:\autorun.dat. Verify the file exists and that you can access
it".

Second, I tried a manual installation by copying everything from the
disc to HDD folder. OK, the installation successful. I could play only
once it was just installed. But it failed to start the program again
after rebooting the Windows. It returns "Program Runtime error".

Third, I followed the recommendations on some online forum and did
another clean and manual installation. Right after that, I patched the
game by using the latest update patch. OK, the game could work. But in
the middle of the game, it stopped and closed.

Fourth, until now, no one replied my call to the support hotline.

My PC configurations:
Core2Duo E6421 2.1GHz
3GB DDR2 RAM
320GB SATA2 Harddisk
Windows Vista Business Upgrade
XFX Nvidia 8600GT display card with 256MB DDR2 RAM
ASUS P5B-VM motherboard

My PC is way above the basic requirements of this game. Please help A.S.A.P.

You can try the default actions such as defragging your harddrive and/or turning off your antivirus software. Other than that you can read the other posts. Lots of people are having crashes and as of yet there doesn't seem to be a sure fire way to prevent it.

I am having the same error as you and, also like you, don't know how to solve it. Best I can offer is to play another game in the mean time, heh.:o

Hopefully TM can track it down and release a patch but nothing has been said on their end yet.
