OK, I <snot laughed> when I first saw it in an early screenshot.
Then, I saw it on the Official SimCity Societies home page...
:D
Bonus question ~ Does this count as additional transportation ~ <ducking> ~ or is it something more?

Not at all, Bosiydid! It is just when things pop up on the Home World page, my usually wandering "mind" ... Does! I'm wondering how important it is?

Only if you're flying over a Creativity zone. Ducks however, can only can be consumed over a Wealth/Knowledge zone. :)

I like the orange/reddish tones and how it somehow looks cel-shaded..

is it just recreational or will it also provide transportation... I think historically it has done both

AH transportation will be fun!
We have http://www.citybuildingcontests.net/vbulletin/images/smilies/horse.gif which has a side benefit of fuel for home based power in methane tanks, but it could cause pollution if there is no tank.
Then there is http://www.citybuildingcontests.net/vbulletin/images/smilies/sigs_misc_012.gif
Or the fantasy society might have this one. http://www.citybuildingcontests.net/vbulletin/images/smilies/smilie_ron_quidditch.gif
Then there is http://www.citybuildingcontests.net/vbulletin/images/smilies/treintje.gif which might have several eras for train transp. (evolving when you have the money to upgrade to a newer train, such as the maglev.)
Steam; coal and wood burning>diesel locomotive> Electric> maglev train
Any other suggestions?
Does Sc4 have any auto ferries or water transportation?

The Rush Hour and Deluxe edition does. :)
For me, the bare minimum transporation options would just be road and rail like SimCity classic. ;)
From what the video mentions, people will need to get to places so I think it's safe to say that transportation layouts will be important. :)

I don't mind the missing highways but really want subways and ground level rails, would be nice to connect the two like you could in Simcity 4:)
Julia's animation's are so cute! I've sat in this thread longer than I should just looking at them.
Hot air balloons would be a fun transport mode (for sims not me!), but I still want trains planes ferries or at the very least bus stops. Though a citywide balloon network would be interesting if not chaotic.

you can see the rope tying it to the ground and just under it on the ground a kind of wooden arched entrance. So it must be a resort of some sort. I hope we'll get pictures of real transportation soon

In the 1Up Video the balloon looks static through a day/ night transition. Even if tied to the ground, having it 'drift' *SUBTLELY* would be a good idea.
