Error Message =
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled
ProcessID=0xf90 (3984), ThreadID=0xcd4(3784)

It then asks to cancel or debug - debug does nothing

This has happend twice now, about 2 weeks apart. The game is played daily. The only resolution is reinstall.

Please attach a full copy of your dxdiag.txt file to your next reply.

Unfortunately, Caesar IV is being plagued by a number of these exception errors. They are working on fixing the problems they can identify and reproduce.

If it has only happened to you twice in two weeks that's not too bad by comparison. Hopefully the patch will fix these sorts of problems.

Thanks for the FAST reply. The error does not occur while in game play. It only occurs when the game is started. Hope the dxdiag is helpful. Since there is not interum fix, I am going to go ahead and reinstall. Hope to have a solution soon :)

I think I found the problem. :)

I just reinstalled and the same error occured. The part of the error message that I did not pass on (forgot) is that the error is generated from "c4exec.exe."

It turns out that something is changing the shortcut. The game shortcut was set to "c4exec.exe" after the reinstall. I changed it to "CaesarIV.exe" and all is well. Not sure why this happened, but looks promising as reason and now just need to know the why it changes.

Hope this is helpful.
